How to Write an Effective Letter to Make the System Work for You

How to Write an Effective Letter
to Make the System Work for You

Introduction
When authorities fail to respond properly to violence against women and children, victims and their supporters need a simple, effective means to push officials to do the job right. The most effective, everyday tool we've used over the years is a short, concise letter, fueled by strong c: list at the end of the letter, and by a couple other key ingredients. If a phone call or two hasn't gotten the system to quickly correct its response to your case, putting together your own letter may be just the remedy you need.
You may doubt that a simple letter can do the job. Or you may feel intimidated just by the thought of writing a letter. But stick with it. We're going to give you an easy-to-follow letter formula. It's a formula that we've used hundreds of times to make officials take notice and to quickly correct their responses to women's cases. It's also a formula that you can adapt for many different needs; whether you need to push to get your case fully investigated, or reinvestigated, or to stop an official's abusiveness, or to press a district attorney to file proper charges, or to get bad custody decisions reversed, to get your questions answered, or just to adjust an official's attitude.
As with all remedies, you should remember there are no guarantees that it will work 100%, and you need to consider your own circumstances in deciding whether this is the right remedy for you. But if you want reluctant officials to make rapid improvements in your case, we have found these letters to be highly effective. You shouldn't be shy about taking this action and making officials respond properly to you. Another thing to remember is to always adapt the recommendations we give below to meet your specific needs.
We start with a sample letter that we'll use to illustrate the steps that follow for writing your own letter.
Sample Letter
(This letter is fictitious.)
October 5, 2005
Dear Police Chief Andy Boyd,
I am the victim in the rape case against Daniel Jones which I reported to your department on September 10, 2005. I am writing to express my concerns about the way my case has been handled so far, and to ask your help in resolving these problems as soon as possible.
Three weeks ago, Detective Rich was assigned to my rape case. Detective Rich interviewed me on September 15. And he hasn't talked to me since. I have called Detective Rich and left messages on his phone three times in the last two weeks. He has never called me back.
In addition, in the first phone message that I left the detective two weeks ago, I gave the detective the full names and phone numbers of two witnesses who saw me with my clothes torn after the rape. During the interview, the detective had asked me to get this information for him. When I talked to these witnesses yesterday, they both said the detective hadn't contacted them yet. These are just some of the concerns I have.
I am very upset that the detective hasn't returned my phone calls and that he hasn't interviewed important witnesses in my rape case. The rapist told me he would make me sorry if I called the police. But I trusted that police would treat the rape and my safety seriously. And now I am living in more fear than ever.
Please look into this and call me as soon as possible. I would like to talk with you right after you receive this letter. I can be reached at my work during normal business hours at 666-3150, and at my home at 777-2211.
I am also requesting that you immediately assign another detective to my case, and that this new detective quickly carry out a complete investigation of the case. And I'm asking that you please instruct the new detective to keep me informed of the investigation and to return my phone calls within 24 hours.
I'm sure you agree this needs to be corrected without delay. I'm sure that as chief of police, you want to assure that I am safe and that all women in the community are safe from rapists like Daniel Jones.
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,

Anita Garcia

Six Steps to Writing Your Letter

1. The c: list, the Dynamite at the End of the Letter

We start at the end of the letter with the c: list because you may still have doubts that a simple letter can really make a difference. It's usually the c: list, which is placed below your signature, that gives your letter the punch it needs to make the system move. The c: stands for "copies". So the c: list is a list of all the other persons to whom you are sending a copy of the letter. This list will likely make the difference between a letter that gets ignored or thrown away, and a letter that will get the results you want.Look at the bottom of the sample letter to see how a typical c: list appears. Because of the c: list in this letter, the police chief to whom the letter is addressed, will see immediately that a lot of other powerful people are reading the same letter as he is, and he'll know that they are now also fully informed of your complaint. The c: list virtually puts these powerful people in the same room with the chief, reading your letter over his shoulder.
The c: list works because it lets the the chief know that you are not afraid to make your complaint public. You are no longer just a lowly victim voicing your complaint in isolation. You've brought the DA, the mayor, the attorney general, women's advocates, and a host of other powerful people into the room with you - and all eyes are on the chief.
How to Put Together the C: List for Your Letter:Here's is a list of the kinds of people you can consider including in your letter's cc list. Naturally, you don't have to include them all, or you may think of others we haven' listed here. Don't get overwhelmed thinking about creating your own list. It doesn't take long to put the names and addresses of all these people together. They're high profile people, so the correct spelling of their names and their addresses are just a phone call away. Or, these days, you can easily gather all this information at one sitting on the Internet.
Your c: list can include:
Local Public Officials - e.g., the mayor, city council members, the district attorney, judges, etc.,
Local Leaders and Groups - e.g., women's rights organizations, a local journalist who covers the police beat, a prominent clergy person, other high profile leaders
State and National Officials - e.g., the State Police Chiefs Association, State District Attorney's Association
"Other Community Members" - We usually write in "Other Community Members" at the bottom of our c: list because this lets the official know we're willing to distribute the letter far beyond the initial list, especially if the official doesn't take care of business quickly.
"The Press" - Including "The Press" on your c: list requires a little more consideration. Criminal justice officials are notoriously uncomfortable about being criticized in the press. So indicating your willingness to go to the press can exert a lot of pressure. On the other hand, if you're not certain that you're really willing to go to the press, or, if it's not certain that the press will actually do anything even if you do, then it's probably better to leave this item off your list.
Be Creative - Think of other people who are relevant to your case - anyone, from neighbors who care about you, to school principals, to public officials.
2. A Couple Things to Keep in Mind as You Sit Down to Write Your Letter:

Don't be Intimidated: Violence against women and children is extremely harmful and dangerous to you and to the community. It's crucial for everyone that officials respond properly to your case. You have rights. These public officials work for you. And they have obligations to you. You have a right to protection, justice, and respect. And you have a right to complain loudly when officials don't work hard to give you these things.
Don't be shy! Your letter doesn't have to be perfect! Don't agonize over phrases. If you find yourself getting stuck obsessing over one part of the letter or another, it's time to call in a friend to sit beside you and help.
Keep it Short: A short letter is easier to write, and just as important, a short letter will get read. A one page letter is the best. Since no one can fit their whole story on one page, what you have to do is pick the two or three most important points, and then indicate in the letter that there is more to tell. This was done in the sample letter just by saying, "These are just some of the concerns I have". If you have trouble figuring out which are the most important points, get a friend to sit beside you and help you write the letter.
Keep Emotions to a Minimum: This can be very difficult for victims of violence, especially if you've been additionally victimized by the authorities. Keep in mind that the purpose of the letter is not to vent your emotions. The purpose is to get improvements in the way your case is being handled. At the same time, your letter shouldn't be emotionless, either. Again, turn to a friend if you aren't sure about what's too much or too little. But most of all, remember, it doesn't have to be perfect.
Get Help from a Friend: A friend can help you in a lot of ways. They can sit beside you to help write the letter. Sometimes all it takes is for them to just sit in the same room with you to keep you focused as you write. Or, they can help by reading the letter after you've finished. And some friends may want to sign the letter with you, too, a variation we'll describe later.
Protect Your Confidentiality if You Wish: If you don't want to make your name public to the people in your c: list, here's what to do. In the copies of the letter that you send out to the people on the c: list, simply black out your name, your phone number, and any other personal information that would make you identifiable.
3. Writing the Body of the Letter
* In General, Address Your Letter to the Highest Person in Charge of Dealing with Your Problem. For example, if a police officer mishandled your case, address your letter to the police chief. If you're having problems in the courtroom, address your letter to the judge. If the prosecutor (deputy district attorney or assistant district attorney) is the problem, address your letter to the district attorney.* The First Paragraph Should Be a Quick Summary of Who You Are, Why You're Writing, and What You Want. The first paragraph in the Sample Letter is a typical first paragraph that you can easily adapt to your own situation.
Here's a couple variations:
If you're an victim advocate writing on behalf of your client, here's a first paragraph we use time and again.
We're writing on behalf of our client, Jane Doe, in regard to her rape case that was reported to your department on June 10, 2005. We're writing to express our concerns with how the case has been handled, and to ask your immediate help in getting corrections made.
Or, if two or three supporters are writing the letter with you and will be signing the letter with you, start the letter by writing:
We're writing along with Jane Doe to express our concerns about...
* The Second and Third Paragraph - Summarize the History of the Problem and Your Complaint. This is where many victims have trouble condensing down what may be a very long, difficult story. And, in fact, you may actually need more than two paragraphs to do it. One thought that might help you keep it as short as possible is to remind yourself again that the purpose of the letter isn't so much to tell your story, nor to go into detail about what the perpetrator did to you. The purpose of your letter is to protest a problem you have with officials who are mishandling your case. So you only have tell enough of your story so that those who read your letter can understand the context of your complaint and requests.
If you still have trouble putting this section together, take a separate piece of paper and make a list - not a discussion, make a list - of all the things you feel officials did wrong in handling your case. Take your time doing it. Then pick the three most serious points on your list and build your letter paragraphs on these three points.
And don't forget to include a sentence in your letter to indicate that you have more to tell. Remember this sentence in the sample letter. "These are just some of the concerns I have."
Note to Advocates: Sadly, many advocates hesitate to write letters for their clients because they feel they can't be 100% certain that their clients are telling them the truth about how the case is being mishandled. The fact is, you're never going to be 100% certain that your client is telling you the truth. But that should never be an excuse not to advocate vigorously for your client. So here's how to advocate vigorously within the framework that you can never be 100% sure of the facts.
As you tell your client's story, just use introductory phrases such as, "According to the victim,...." or "The victim says...", etc., and you'll never go wrong.
* Fourth Paragraph - Explain the Harmful Consequences You've Suffered Because of the Mishandling of Your Case. This is a good place to express some of your emotions and fears as is done in the sample letter..
* Fifth and Sixth Paragraph - Be Very Clear about What You Want, and When You Want It. You would be amazed how often people write very good letters expressing their complaint, and then they forget to write this most important part of the letter - spelling out exactly what you want, and when you want it. Saying exactly what you want and when you want it does not always mean you'll get it 100%. But it does mean that you have set the bar against which the chief and everyone who reads the letter will measure the chief's response.
So be sure and say exactly what you want and when you want it. Don't forget to include complete information about how to contact you.
* Seventh Paragraph: it Is Very Appropriate to Remind the Official That He or She Has Obligations to Provide Safety and Justice to You and the Community. Don't hesitate to say it in your own words.
4. Your Signature and Signature Options:

It's perfectly ok if you are the only person that signs your letter. However, like a cc list, having other people sign the letter with you can add to the power of your letter, even if it's just a friend who signs with you.
So here's what the signature section of your letter would look like if there are others who will be signing with you. Then they would simply sign over their name.
Sincerely,

Anita GaricaGloria RodriguezNancy Arturo

5. Before Sending Your Letter, Double Check!
These 'don't forgets' may seem obvious. But when you're under stress, it's very easy to forget things that are obvious. So after you've written your letter go over this Double Check List just to make sure you've covered them all.Double Check:

  • To make sure that you've dated your letter,
  • To make sure you've included your contact information,
  • To make sure you've typed the c: list at the end
    of the letter,
  • To send a copy of your letter to everyone on the
    c: list,
  • To make extra copies of your letter for yourself.
6. Follow Through
Always follow through! If, for example, the chief doesn't get back to you in a couple days as the letter requests, then it's time for you to make the call to the chief. And if your call doesn't get a response, then go to one of the people on the c: list. In the case of the sample letter, a good first person to go to would be the mayor or one of the city council members. But in all likelihood, that won't be necessary. In our experience, letters that follow this form get a very fast response from even the most stubborn officials.

How to Write a Letter to the District Attorney

There are many reasons for writing a letter to the District Attorney (DA). Whatever your reason, you’ll want to draft a formal, respectful letter to give your inquiry the best chance of success. You’ll also want to include all the information necessary to support your inquiry, whether it involves a trial, reporting a crime, or dealing with a traffic ticket.

Part 1 of 4: Writing to a District Attorney
1
Look up the correct address online or call the county court. An online search including “district attorney” and the county or city name will almost always turn up an email and physical address. Alternately, you can call or visit the country or city court to request this information.
  • If you are looking for the specific attorney handling your case, it is best to email or call the county or city court clerk to find this information.
Use the correct form of address. For best results, you will want to write a formal letter and address the district attorney appropriately.[1]
  • The envelope: The Honorable (Full name), District Attorney of (city or county)
  • Letter salutation: Dear Mr. / Madame District Attorney:
3
Keep your letter short and formal. Make your letter as brief as possible while still including all the required information. Even if you are upset – e.g. you are a victim writing because our case is not being prosecuted – try to keep you letter formal and respectful. This is the best way to ensure a positive response.[2]

Part 2 of 4: Writing Regarding a Trial or Trial Records
1
Ask for a continuance, or extension of your trial date. If you are a defendant – in traffic court, for instance – and wish for more time to prepare your defense, you can sometimes write the district attorney for a continuance, though in some jurisdictions, you will need to appear in person to do so.[3] State the reason you need a continuance – i.e. to prepare your defense – in your letter.

  1. 2
Send a written victim impact statement during the sentencing phase of a trial. All 50 states allow victim impact statements, which allow victims to indicate the toll the crime has take on them, and which may impact the judge’s sentence. These statements may include descriptions of:[4]
    • Injury caused by the crime
    • Emotional damage caused by the crime
    • Financial cost of the crime
    • Medical or psychological treatments required by the victim
    • The victim’s views on the crime and the appropriate punishment
  2. 3
Communicate regarding the trial if you are a victim or witness. During the course of a trial, you may need to send written statements or other information to the district attorney, or ask questions.
  3. 4
Do not write the district attorney if you are the defendant in a criminal case.Anything you write to the district attorney may be admissible as evidence in your case. Accordingly, your lawyer should handle all communication with the prosecution.
  4. 5
Know that all states have freedom of information laws that allow you to request public records, including trial records held by district attorneys. In some states, you will need to write to a special agency to obtain these records, but in most states, you can write to your local district attorney. You can find a form information request letter for each state here. You will typically have to pay a per-page fee for any document produced. Be sure to include as much information as possible, including:[5]
    • Name of defendant(s)
    • Indictment or docket number
    • Approximate date of the trial
Part 3 of 4: Writing a Letter to Report a Crime

1
Contact the local police to report most crimes. If a crime is happening at that moment, call 911. Otherwise, write or call your local police department to report most crimes, including theft, vandalism, assault, or nuisance complaints.

2
Write the district attorney regarding fraud and public corruption. Cases of public corruption should be brought directly to the attention of the district attorney. Give as much information as you can on the crime. The cases DAs will investigate vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but often include:[6][7]
  • Public corruption
  • Criminal acts by members of the judiciary
  • Election violations
  • Fraud involving large amounts (typically over $300,000)
  • Environmental crimes
3
Contact the district attorney if a crime against you is not being prosecuted.DAs typically have 1 to 2 years to bring charges, and a trial may be delayed by workload or the need to gather evidence.[8] That said, if you are a victim and feel that the DA is failing to pursue your case, you can write a letter encouraging him or her to do so. For best results, be sure to add a cc list, letting the DA know that you have also sent the letter to other important people, including his or her boss. People to consider putting in your cc: include:[9]
  • Local officials – the mayor, city council members, judges, etc.
  • Local leaders- A prominent clergy person, business leaders, etc.
  • Appropriate organizations and issue Groups – NAACP, National Organization for Victim Assistance, American Civil Liberties Union, National Organization for Women, etc.
  • State and national officials – attorney general, state and national congress people, governor
  • Local newspapers and journalists
4
Report violations of freedom of information laws. All states have laws that require the government to give citizens access to public records. If the government fails to turn over records, the next step is usually to contact the local district attorney to lodge a criminal complaint.[10] Be sure to specify as precisely as possible the documents you requested and to include a copy of any rejection notice sent to you.

Part 4 of 4: Writing a Letter to Fight a Traffic Ticket
1
Know that you can write a letter to the district attorney to reduce the cost of or even dismiss a traffic ticket. Even if you were at fault, DAs will often reduce the level of the fine or change the nature of the charge so no points accrue to your license if you have a previously clean driving record. There is no guarantee your letter will succeed, but as it only costs you a few minutes and a stamp, it’s worth a try.

2
Be courteous when pulled over. The DA will likely contact the officer who pulled you over to ask about the incident. Officers take notes on each stop, and if you were rude, he will let the DA know. That will likely mean the failure of your request, since the success of your letter depends on the DA’s good will.[11]

3
Find the name and address of the District Attorney handling your case. You can call or email the clerk of the court for the county or city where you received your ticket to discover the District Attorney for your case.
4
Obtain your driving record abstract or motor vehicle report. A clean driving record can help convince the DA to reduce the penalty against you. The state department that issues drivers licenses will also be able to provide you with your driving record. See here for information on how to obtain your record in your state.

5
Write the district attorney. Keep your letter short and to the point. There are several things you will want to include:[12]
  • Mention that you are not contesting your speed or the speed zone in the area.
  • Explain why you were speeding – i.e. you did not realize the new speed limit after transitioning from a faster speed zone.
  • Apologize and indicate that you will watch your speed more closely in the future.
  • Mention your clean driving record and attach it.
  • Ask for a reduced fine and/or a reduction in charges to a non-point violation.

To Gain Prophecies

To Gain Prophecies

Although these spell/prayer are in the spiritual category of enchantment, they are not as deadly or difficult to transmit as most spiritual prayer/enchantment.

Instead these dream prayer/enchantment are more fun enchantment. With them you can implant dreams into other people's minds. Misuse can lead to negative energy, so beware of transmitting these enchantments correctly.

Gain Prophecies

Procedure: Fill the cauldron half-full of water and place it on a table where you can see comfortably into it while seated. Light two purple candles and a good divinatory incense. Arrange the candles so their light does not shine into the water or your eyes. Focus your attention on the bottom of the cauldron, you hands places lightly on either side.
Breathe gently onto the water. Say: Cauldron reveal to me that which I seek. Great Mother , open my inner eye that I may truly see. Empty your mind as much as possible; remain relaxed while looking deep into the cauldron waters. The answers may come in images in the water, pictures in your mind, and strong bursts of knowing.

PROPHETIC DREAMS

A INCANTATION FOR PROPHETIC DREAMS
Before You Begin: Be Careful This is a rather simple spell, but you are "playing with fire"
before bedtime. Make sure you have extinguished all burning things before you cross
into slumber. Sprinkle some Jasmine on your pillow, and make sure you have a dream-journal
or the like at your bedside to record your dreams in, and brew a cup of mugwort tea.
(NOTE: mugwort is unhealthy in large doses, so go easy, and consult an Herbal Reference
book if you're worried. Light blue candles on your altar.
If you want to gain insight into your passions or your loves, burn Damiana as well.
Watch the smoke as it coils, and allow it to carry you off into the trance-like state that you
spend most of the day avoiding. Say whatever comes to mind, appealing to the goddess
or god of your choice to guide your dreams. I usually say something like:
Blessed be the Lord and Lady, For they created the world, The earth to hold,
The sun to warm, The moon to guide, The spirit to dream.
Take sips of the mugwort tea as you repeat the words, gaze into the smoke,
and when you feel yourself just about to "cross the line" blow out the candle(s) and say:
"So mote it be." Go to sleep. Dream away. Just remember, you don't always get to hear what you'd like.

'Prophetic Dreams Incantation

Before going to sleep, say this prayer. It has a good chance of giving you a prophetic dream, through divine intervention of course, although it is not 100% as is all magic.

While lying in a bed, or a place to sleep, say the following out loud:

"God,  and goddess or Holy Spirt, I call to thee. Give me dreams tonight. Let me see visions of ___________. This is my will, so mote it be."

Then proceed to fall asleep.
That is all, be well.

Blessed be the Lord and Lady, For they created the world, The earth to hold,

Prophetic Sleep

Make a small pouch out of white fabric or a lace material. This pouch will be placed under your pillow to help induce prophetic dreams. Fill the pouch with equal amounts of the the herbs listed as ingredients for this incantation. Empower them with your need and sew them up. Place under your pillow each night before you go to sleep.

'How to see angels and get prophetic dreams (for anyone)

Before you go to bed or asleep just ask angels or guardian angel for guidance, answers to your questions or healing or if you would like to say something.

You may hear a voice if you are very intuitive.
Ask them to keep you from evil and ask them to watch over you.
When you get used to doing this and if you've ever heard a voice, ask them to show themselves kindly.
If they do, do not be scared.
Talk to them or say thank you.
Do not forget to pray to them if you have problems because they will REALLY help you! If you find this good message me and I can give you some more tips :)

'Psychic Dreams

'Psychic Dreams

Although these spell/prayer are in the spiritual category of enchantment, they are not as deadly or difficult to transmit as most spiritual prayer/enchantment.

Instead these dream prayer/enchantment are more fun enchantment. With them you can implant dreams into other people's minds. Misuse can lead to negative energy, so beware of transmitting these enchantments correctly.

'Psychic Instructions Level 1

1 focus on others the here inner thought
2 when you’ve heard your inner thought thin of a rope of chi coming out of your hand
3 make it grow then wrap around another person’s head
4 listen you can hear the thoughts
5 go to instruction 2

'Psychic Dreams Incantation'

Do this beneath the blue moon (fourth moon of the season) and by where you sleep.

Place the phantom quartz in the jar of water.

Around the jar, place the other 4 crystals: cavansite in the east direction, rhyolite in the south, malachite in the west, and jade in the north.

Light the purple candle and hold it in your hands.

Chant: "In the light of the blue moon and with the circle of four, I will summon the power to open the door, twixt this realm and the one we cannot see, and harm it none so mote it be."

Place the candle somewhere safe near your bed and take the phantom quartz from the water. With the water, make tea and drink it before going to bed.

The dreams you have should be prophetic of either the past or the future.

-NOTE-
Be careful with the candle as it is a fire hazard. You don't have to have it burning all night, but I believe it increases the effects of the spell.

-TIP-
For the tea, try making valerian or chamomile.
When doing the spell, do it in the dark so the candle is the only light.

'Psychic Incantation'

Crush the rosemary, celery, and coffee together until it looks like it is a mixture. Then take a cauldron, or a stove pan, and pour water and the mixture in it, and boil it for a couple of minutes. Take out the herbs from the cauldron and pour the psychic tea into a cup, and form a circle around the cup with herbs you just took out. Say this chant as you stare into the tea, and picture a third eye
"As I drink this psychic tea,
psychic abilities come to me."
Drink the tea ( ALL OF IT OR ELSE IT WONT WORK) and when you are done, throw out the herbs.

If you choose to desire good dreams then send the negative energy into the red candle. Let the positive energy flow from the white candle into the dream catcher.

(If you seek bad dreams then reverse the candle's energy transference)

When done, hangs your dream catcher above your bed (or couch or whatever you sleep on). It will harvest, and rid your dreams.

' Dream Catcher

Make the basic dream catcher. Wrap a circular object with hemp or twine. Now. Find objects that carry positive memories. The type of memory will represent an affect. (Ex: feather from wedding=love) combine different types to create stronger affects. Don't overcrowd the charms, they can get blocked or turned off by charms that tangle or hide other charms. 5 ribbons or string should be a good limit. Hang up somewhere higher than your head near your bed. You may enchant the catchers if you wish.

Dream Invader Protection

Wrap three fresh apple seeds in a white cloth pouch. Tie the pouch closed. Don't lose the seeds. Safety pin the pouch to the pillow you sleep on. Sleep with the pouch attached to your pillow for seven nights. At the end of the seven nights, remove the three seeds from the pouch and toss them out your front door. On the off chance that a spirit is leaving it's body and traveling to your home, this will make it impossible for it to enter the house.

 'Interpret Dreams'

Set the candles in the shape of a square and have your friend stand in the middle of it. Get the full dream from your friend, or what they can remember of it. Light the candles and say this incantation:
"The birds of the sky, fish of the sea, beasts of the land, tell me what (friend's name)'s dream means."

'Dream recall Chant'

1. Preparing for Bed : Try to get the body as relaxed as you can. If you have to stretch or even do Yoga all the better. You can even meditate to clear your mind, so that that you are more prepared for the next step. You don't have to eat or refrain from eating before bedtime. You may do as you like. Try experimenting with eating different foods before bedtime and see if you get any different results in the end. Make sure you have a pen and pad handy to write with next to the bed.

2. Programming : This is the most important part. When you get to that borderline sleep level (which is right before you are completely asleep) you must tell yourself over and over again that you will remember all your dreams and you will wake up after each dream and write down your experience. If you don't like having to repeat all that then try tape recording yourself saying these things. Make sure that you tape at least 10 - 15 min. worth. That should be sufficient.

3. Taking Notes : This is also very important. If you successfully wake up
after each dream, then you must write down everything you can remember in detail. Write down whether the dream was in color or black and white. This is why we will keep a pen and pad next the bed. Make sure not to put it in the bed with you. You don't want to end up stabbing yourself in your sleep. Then you must try to go right back to sleep. Keeping the pen and pad handy. Hopefully you will go right into another dream and repeat the process.

4. Reviewing the Night : Now it is time to review the night. You will be amazed at how many dreams you actually had that night! I usually find that I have 10 - 15 dreams a night and sometimes more. Everyone dreams and everyone dreams many times a night, they just don't know they do until they try something like this. Make special note of dreams that are in full-blown color, for you will want to reference them once you start studying astral projection.

Dream Powers Incantation'

To summon your dream powers picture your one most powerful thing you could do in your dreams and chant "I'm in control and you cant harm me"3 times each time getting louder and louder this should allow you to use your dream powers to fight the nightmare into a good dream.

'Dream of me Incantation '

You will need to make a small dream pillow in order to have this spell carried out. For this you need to first cut two bits of cotton fabric and sew up three sides of the rectangle or square. If you choose your pillow to be circular, then you sew the whole thing around, leaving a little at the bottom in order to fill up the pillow. Then turn the cloth upside down and stuff the pillow with bedding or cotton. At the end of the filling remember to put in the rosemary and lavender as well. Using the needle and thread sew up the remaining of the pillow.
Then write the name of the person whom you want to perform the
enchantment"Blessed Mother, Holy Goddess
Send (name of the person) a dream
And awaken his/her mind
Carry my voice far and galore
To the place where even sleep lays ashore
Send him/her this message loud and clear
This is not just a prayer mere."
The incantation can be changed in a way to match your preference.

Control your Dreams '

Everyone has a dream, but sometimes we don't dream of what we want to dream. Follow these instructions and with your mind, you can create what you want to dream about.
1. The first step is to choose what you want to dream about. You could dream you are your fave character, you're dating your crush, you are standing up to a bully, etc.
2. Before you go to sleep, clear your mind of everything but that topic. Think to yourself 'I will do this tonight. I will be this tonight.'
3.When you fall asleep, be aware of your dream.
4. Keep a record of your dreams, and if you're a writer like me, write a story about them!
This is my first spell but I know it works because I tested it. If you have complaints or suggestions, please contact me.Thank you, and enjoy your dreams!!!

Go to sleep.

In the morning touch the stone and you should be able to remember your dreams

'Future

Let me the future I need to know what is to happen to me

'Dream of the Future

To foresee an event in the future through a dream, try this powerful dream ceremony.

Decide what subject your prophetic/psychic dream will be about:
Does it involve you, or someone else?
What is the subject you need information on? (Money, love, etc.)
How far or near in the future do you wish to see?
Do you have a specific question to ask, or just a general topic?
How do you want the question answered- by a guide, symbols, emotions, etc.?
Once you are sure you know what exactly the prophetic dream should be able, you can gather your items and prepare your working. Lay out a square of pale blue cloth. In the middle, places a mixture of ash leaves, bay leaves, counterfoil, heliotrope, holly, jasmine flowers, marigold flowers, mimosa, mugwort, onion, and/or yarrow (however many you can find). Bring the corners towards the middle and tie it all together like a small bag with a string, ribbon, or piece of yarn. Then, on a white piece of paper, briefly explain what you need to see in the dream, using the guideline above to tell the main ideas/questions you need prophecies about.

Place the herbal bag and the note beneath your pillow, and make sure you record your dream in a notebook or journal as soon as you awake, so you do not forget it. Use what you learn to prepare you for the future.

'Dream Message'

Determine precisely what it is you want them to hear, or perhaps feel. Write down your wish on a piece of paper in simple sentence form. Make a dream pillow using a small square of fabric and a little batting. Throw in a pinch of lavender and rosemary. Put in the piece of paper last, then sew up the end.

Put the dream pillow on your altar. Do an altar devotion to center yourself, then create sacred space. Cast a circle and call the quarters if you like, but is isn't necessary. Center yourself, then hold your hands over the dream pillow and say the following:

"Holy Mother, Goddess Divine, I stand before your sacred shrine. This person won't listen or hear My words tickle at deafened ear. Holy Mother, Goddess Divine, Send a dream, awaken the mind. Through his/her vision he/she lives The nightmare/passion/lesson he/she so freely gives. Holy Mother, Goddess Divine Send them your enchanted design. Clear out the cobwebs, tear down walls, Carry my message through spirit calls.

Feel free to change the incantation to suit your purpose.

'Dream Message

Magick Dream Message

If you've got to send someone an
important message they must listen
to, sending them a dream is one of
the best ways to do get your point
across.

You can send them any message you
wish.

STEP 1: Determine the exact dream
that will be "transmitted" to them
in as much detail as possible.

STEP 2: At the new moon (waxing),
place a clear quartz crystal within
a glass of purified water, and leave
it on your window sill overnight
to absorb the moonlight.

STEP 3: On the next night, dress
your bed with clean white sheets
and sprinkle the lunar water
over them.

STEP 4: Place yarrow, wormwood,
or thyme inside a square of
white silk. (Surround the herb
with the silk by bunching it
up around it.)

STEP 5: Hold the herb packet in
your hand; visualize and concentrate
on all the details of the person
for whom this dream is intended.

STEP 6: Place the packet within your
pillowcase. As you go to sleep,
visualize the dream you'd like to
send as if you were watching a
movie.

'Dream Recall Incantation'

Place the lavender inside the hankie. Fold neatly. Place between the pillow and pillowcase. Drink the tea. Recite the following incantation three times:
From my higher self I bid thee come from the deep rushing river of my dreams -- great winged thoughts of inspiration, knowledge, growth, and learning. I welcome with joy the symbols and vivid colors brought forth, up through the depths of my mind, and I will remember only those dreams that are significant. I will decode these with little difficulty upon waking by using the keyword (insert a special word of choice here). So mote it be
Ground and center. Turn out the light and close your eyes. It may take several weeks before you are able to recall significant parts of the dream segments, but don't give up. How we wake up also has a lot to do with what we recall. If you are overly tired and then roused by an alarm or a screaming sibling, its highly possible you wont remember a thing. Sit quietly in bed and say your keyword aloud. If that doesn't work, theirs always tomorrow.

Dream speak

First off, you'll need to sit with your legs crossed Indian style. Then, take your left hand and press your forefinger to your lips to signal silence. Be in a quiet, dark room. Close your eyes and picture your crush. Make sure you include details (eye colors, freckles, moles, hair color, zits, dimples, etc.) Picture him for about three minutes. Then, picture him sitting in front of you. Talk to him. Reach out and pat his shoulder, touch his hand, be brave and touch his cheek. Tell him you love him and you have for a while. Break the ice. Then, ask him if he likes you back. If he says yes, but is not allowed to date, then tell him you'll wait until he is. Or if he says no, leave his mind. Next time you see him, act like nothing happened.
While imagining this going on, Whisper "I love you (person’s name) three times and snap you fingers.
Then open your eyes. You just dream spoke to your crush!
